Thank you to our Babysouk customers who kindly contributed AED 5 from their online purchase at checkout, as your generous donations towards The ZB Foundation have helped them to reach their first milestone and make a break through in medicine and saving babies lives in Islamabad Pakistan.
We are pleased to announce that The ZB Foundation achieved a significant milestone in Islamabad, Pakistan on the 12th Sep 2015. The ZB Foundation administered its first ever New Born Screening test (heel prick test) on a new born baby at PIMS Hospital. With this small action yet giant leap, The ZB Foundation has taken a significant step in its journey to administer free new born screening throughout Pakistan. The ZB Foundation will take this first test and use it as a base to build and expand our new born screening program while at the same time use this proud achievement to further educate and teach doctors and parents on the importance of this essential test, a test that should be every new born baby’s birth right. Within 48 hours we will receive the baby’s new born screening results back from our partner Medlabs in Jordan, inform the doctor and parents and then act accordingly to support the family whatever the outcome.
Newborn Screening (NBS) is a form of preventive health care in which babies are tested within the first days of their life to discover evidence of disorders for which the principal symptoms may not yet be apparent. There are a number of different disorders that are regularly screened, though the exact number will depend on your country, region and health care provider. The tests for the various disorders are all performed using the same blood sample, taken from your baby a few days after birth. Timely action can be of utmost importance
Based in Pakistan, the ZB Foundation’s aim is to pioneer the use of New Born Screening, target the uncharted medical area of rare metabolic diseases, and over time, become a compelling soldier for the fight against baby/infant deaths and third world standard pediatric medicine and healthcare facilities. Through collaborating clinics and hospitals and educating doctors and parents, babies will finally have the opportunity to receive a heel prick test (New Born Screening Test) within 72 hours of being born which will result in saving countless lives. This simple test will be provided free of cost- all in the name of Zahra Beau. On the wings of an angel, the journey of the ZB Foundation has now taken a decisive turn.
With a special thanks to PIMS Hospital, Perkin Elmer, Medlabs in Jordan and of course YOU!
